Written by Cassandra Claire (presently known as Cassandra Clare, author of The Mortal Instruments) and posted in the Internet via FanFiction.net and later FictionAlley.org, The Draco Trilogy is hailed (at least by this blogger) as the fanfiction of all Harry Potter fanfictions.

It was so popular back then that some readers prefer reading this fan novel rather than the canon one written by Queen J.K. Rowling. So much so that others even wrote stories based on the trilogy which is based on the world wide 7 part phenomenon. And yes, that is weirdly confusing, I admit.

The Draco Trilogy is composed of three novel length stories which are as follows

Draco Dormiens - An accident in Potions class led to Harry and Draco exchanging bodies, thus, opening a whole alternate universe where the two are alternately allies and enemies battling inner and outer forces of evil.
Draco Sinister - Both likely and unlikely hero rage war against Wizarding History's greatest antagonist.
Draco Veritas - The conclusion to the epic series. Very long read, I must add.

The stories were taken down the internet upon the author's request, following a fanfiction-community-wide  plagiarism scandal and CC's leap to professional published fiction, but not before PDF files (complete with fanart from different artists) were made available for legitimate download. Nowadays, it's hard to find copies of said PDF's but not impossible if you know where to look.

And I'm proud to say you have stumbled upon a goldmine.

I lost my original copies a while back after repeated re-installment of my computer's OS, but 'lo and behold, a kind heart decided to upload their copy for everyone's sake and I was able to download another copy via these links:

I have no opinion regarding the controversy surrounding this fan made novel. All I know is that reading it is keeping the Harry Potter spirit alive in my mind, especially now that the epic series has published its last sentence. All we have to look forward to now is the 7th movie split in two, and with the screaming and fainting-over-lead-actor-hotness vampire wannabes trying to steal the spotlight, I do miss those times when quality literature took over pop culture and not sex crazed half-human mutants and a masochistic protagonist.

You are my hero. I have been searching for Draco Veritas for awhile now. I recently remembered how much I enjoyed reading these when they first came out and was unpleasantly surprised to read about all the goings on that led to them being taken down. I'm glad they're still somewhere.

@Anonymous: Glad to have helped you unearth a lost HP Fanfiction relic. I also enjoyed reading the Trilogy so much that I sometimes confuse the scenes there with the canon ones from JK's novels. The plagiarism accusations were interesting but at least Cassandra Clare's a bonafide published YA Novel writer now. I just love her work and her influence on HP Fandom. :) Happy reading!

I had never heard about this fan fiction before and stumbled upon a reference to it when I googled "Harry and Hermione" after re-watching Prisoner of Azkaban and wondering why Harry and Hermione didn't go for each other. Thanks for posting the links, as it seems it was really hard to get hold of for a while. I've never read fan fiction before, but this will be fun!

@Anonymous: If that's the case then I can assure you that the trilogy is a great read, even if you're not a regular fanfiction reader.

There is a definite improvement in the quality of writing and depth of the story throughout the installments as is with the real Harry Potter novels. It sometimes can feel as if you're reading the 'real' thing rather than a fanfic made by an ordinary enthusiast. Have fun!

I've been reading HP fanfiction for years, and I have stumbled upon this title numerous times but never bothered to look into it. That has all changed now, and I've read so many comments, like yours above, that believe this trilogy is the best fanfiction in the fandom (which is comforting for me because I've read a lot but only have a select few as favourites - maybe this one can challenge the others)!

I'm a Dramione shipper, so in theory this should all work out, although I have heard there are slash tendencies throughout?

Thanks for the links; I think I'll start after watching the last movie!

Oh, that's great. I don't think you would be disappointed at all especially since you're a D/Hr shipper. The ship is prominent throughout the trilogy especially in the first two installments.

Yes, there are kind-of slash scenes here and there, especially in the last one but it's subtle and one can get through it even if one is really not the person who is wholly comfortable with such. Please do read after the last movie, let's keep the Harry Potter fandom burning! :)

I like Harry Potter fanfiction, along with the original Harry Potter series itself, although I haven't seen the whole of Order of the Pheonix and I've seen them out of order. I am actually writing fanfiction, but having trouble so now I several stories and I'm trying to fix them, because one has two twilight characters in it, which was inspired by two videos on youtube, another the same way with one video only though, involving a vampire Draco majorly because he kidnapps this girl, which it contains a ton of stuff present day like Bella Thorne and Zendaya's "Watch Me" and two other songs, two in the first year, one of which i cant acsess write now for some reason, another from the fourth year, a follow up that i cant reach, the other one in the first year where the girl and Ron develope a relationship almost from the day they met, strange but true, and i'm having trouble doing anythingto continue them without it getting all messed up and awkward. I cannot stand the fact i cant really finish them exactly, and the first year one i cant get to is nearly 16 pages long. Oh, and all of them is a girl alternating between age 11 and fourteen named anna black except the recent one shes eleven year old anna abercrombie (nathan abercrombie, accidental zombie) who finds blushing Ron cute from day one, and he actaully likes her back, but as Hermione said, he has the emotional range of a teaspoon, so he has trouble addmitting he likes Anna. hard to keep up with i know, and lately the stopping and making a new story was worse because the a/c was down so i was burning in front of the computer, kinda causing my brain to get kinda... dizzy? idk how to explain exactly. its fixed now, so im trying to work on it.

Hello!
This is the "kind heart" who edited the Draco Trilogy for everyone!
I'm so happy that these PDF's have made their way around the internet :)
Just as a heads-up, I'm working on making the .epub/.lit versions of all of the edited stories, while finishing up a few I've put off (like Expecto Patronum and How to Disappear).
Keep yourself updated at my Mediafire file: http://www.mediafire.com/?gvxz9tth61w44
Enjoy! ~ allmyloveismine @ livejournal

allmyloveismine - Mediafire seems to have taken down the trilogy again :( Do you think you could put them up again?

YOU ARE A SAINT. I had read the whole series with the exception of the very LAST chapter of Veritas before all copies of it were taken offline. Needless to say I have been DYING for the past few years looking for it--no feeling is as gratifying. THANK YOU <3

YOU ARE A SAINT. I had been reading the entire series and following it since CC started writing it. I was waiting for the last chapter of Veritas to come out, and i suppose I waited too long and by the time I checked back, she had already taken it offline. Needless to say, I have been DYING to finally finish this for the past few years. THANK YOU! Nothing is more gratifying <3333333
