CONGRATULATIONS to all newly passed RNs! :)
Welcome to the world of perpetual volunteerism! No, seriously, I salute each and everyone who had the nerve to face all the 500 questions without turning into a blubbering panicky mess. Now, the real challenge is about to be faced. The board exam is just for theory, now the practical exam, that is living as a nurse for the rest of your professional life, is about to begin. Good luck!

There are more people who fail than pass the board exam for nursing. I say that this is bad because there are many Filipinos think that nursing is the only way to go abroad. Even though they do not have the passion for nursing, they take this course because they believe that it is a high paying job.

Yes, this is true especially a few years back. I think the worst part about taking up nursing just for the main reason that it is in demand abroad is that these people did not realize that not everyone can be a nurse. That not all people have the determination, intelligence and compassion to have RNs after their names and to live what those letters entails.
Unlike non-licensed in demand courses like HRM or Tourism, once you finish the course, you can do whatever you please. This is not the case of nursing grads who have failed the exams because then they would have little use for the 4 years that they spent in tertiary education.
