another training program? can't they accept and give job to our nurses, is the four years training in college and more than 200T pesos tuition fee not enough? really frustrating.

Tell me about it. More and more PROFESSIONAL REGISTERED NURSES are forced to pay to 'volunteer' or to undergo more and more training. Unfortunately, it is a good choice for those who don't need the income. Those who do flock to call centers. It's the depressing truth.

If you just saw the line kanina sa PGH just to submit the requirements sa dnrd for "manpower pooling" purposes only. i was there before 6am and actually nag cut off na. first 100 lang. and i heard na yung applicants who were ther 330am hindi na umabot. parang pila sa US embassy dati. maybe a few years baka parang pila na for a noontime show contest.the line nearly reached the gate ng pgh. parang inconvenient truth ni al gore.

Worse, is no one's really talking about it, except nurses who are suffering the same fate.

Tapos T.Y at volunteer. Anu un?

wag naman taung mag anga angaan mga co nurses.lets do something na magkakawork tau at di volunteer.Wala di tau matulungan ng nurses association eh.palibhasa my trabaho sila at backer na nagluklok.

Call center agents get paid better. We don't need large sums of money, just a little respect for the nursing profession, please. And there should be a law that prohibits hospitals from accepting volunteers after volunteers. A little allowance incentive can do wonders.

yes! tama kayo...sometimes nga nagsisisi ako kng bakit nag nurse pa ako.. i thought after passing the board exam i can already get a job related to nursing. but i was shocked that we need to volunteer for ow many months tapos tau pa magbabayad sa hospital. gudluck naman sa atin kawawa naman mga parents natin...nagkanda utang utang na sila just to pay for the tuition fee hangang ngayon pa ba gagastos pa cla...tsk tsk...kawawa naman tau...

Sana mag hire nalang sila ng nurses. We've gone a lot of trainings during our college days,a lot more in paying the tuition, and another training FEES after graduation. Very tough! Sana maintindihan ng mga hospital administrators pinagdadaanan naten. But what happened to the GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS in terms of hiring? IT's NOT WHAT YOU KNOW BUT WHOM YOU KNOW! MAJOR MAJOR UNFAIR

@Anonymous #1: Though all you said is true, please don't pity our profession. These are tough times but we'll have our moment. Be proud to be a nurse! :)

@Anonymous #2: True, especially here in the country. Contacts > Skill/Knowledge/Experience.

Actually, marami pang Nurses ang kailangan sa Pilipinas... If we really value our profession and we are really up for the benefit of humanity through providence of health care, pwede tayong pumunta sa mga lugar na alam natin na kulang sa health professionals like provinces..

We know that we can still do something there.. It's up to us how to really use our skills, knowledge and experience even without "volunteering"..

@Anonymous:

Very true. But I guess not all RNs have the selflessness of Mother Theresa to hike to the farthest provinces away from their family to deliver health care with minimum compensation. But for those who are willing and/or doing exactly just that, then I offer my sincerest praise and gratitude.

my goodness! asa pa sana akong pumunta sa big hospitals like PGH, PHC and NKTI to see if I can get a slot as a trainee. huhu, parang npanghinaan nko ng loob. grabe talaga ang competition for slots, nakakaloka.

see kung ano ang nangyari ng time na kumuha ako ng tickets for oathtaking: http://mistressoftheink.blogspot.com/2010/09/pumunta-ako-sa-pna-at-ganito-ang.html

...i thought i've gone through the worst in nursing. i should've known it will only get worse. x_x

@Anonymous:

Hi there. First of all I'd like to welcome you to the Realm of Unemployment (that is if you want to stick to practicing your hard earned degree). ;)

As for your question, frankly, the letter of intent is just some piece of paper you write specifying what you want to achieve in the span of time you will spend working with the institution. Basically, a lot of "to further enhance my nursing skills and knowledge" and "career enrichment" etc. Be sure to compliment the hospital and include lots of positive adjectives. Either way, don't fret, nobody reads it. And if someone does, it doesn't hold much weight anyway. Just make sure all your sentences are grammatically correct and you're good to go. Good luck!
